I Need Help

Reporting a Concern

You can tell any adult in school if you feel unsafe, worried or uncomfortable, or if you are worried about someone else.

We will listen, take you seriously and explain what happens next. You are not causing a problem by telling us.

We cannot promise to keep it secret because we may need help from other people whose job is to keep you safe.

If it feels difficult to say what is wrong, you could:

  • ask an adult if you can speak to them somewhere quiet;
  • write your worry down;
  • ask a friend to come with you; or
  • simply say, “I need to tell you something.”

You do not need to have all the words or know exactly what has happened. Just tell us what you can.

Meet Our Safeguarding Team

Miss Rivera and Mr Mansell are our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs).

A Designated Safeguarding Lead is an adult who has special training to help keep children safe. If you tell an adult in school that you are worried about something, Miss Rivera or Mr Mansell may help them decide what needs to happen next.

You can speak to Miss Rivera or Mr Mansell directly, but you do not have to find a DSL before asking for help. You can talk to any adult in school that you trust.

You can talk to us about anything that is worrying you. This might be something happening:

  • at school;
  • at home;
  • with another child or an adult;
  • online or on a game, app or website; or
  • somewhere else.

If something doesn't feel right, you can tell us.

Other People Who Can Help

Sometimes you might want to speak to somebody outside school too. These organisations are there to help children and young people.

Childline

Childline will listen to you about any worry, big or small.

You can talk to a Childline counsellor for free by calling 0800 1111, or you can talk to someone online. You do not have to tell them your name.

CEOP

If you are worried about sexual abuse or grooming online, you can report it to CEOP.

For example, someone online might be asking you to send sexual pictures, trying to get you to do something that makes you uncomfortable or making you feel frightened or unsafe.

You can also ask a trusted adult to help you make a report.

Report Remove

If a nude or sexual picture or video of you has been shared online, Report Remove can help you try to get it taken down.

You can still ask for help even if you sent the picture yourself. Tell a trusted adult and remember that you do not have to deal with it by yourself.

If Someone Is in Danger

If you or somebody else is in immediate danger, call 999 or ask an adult to call for you.

Remember

You can always ask for help.

It does not matter:

  • how big or small your worry feels;
  • whether it happened recently or a long time ago;
  • whether it happened online or offline;
  • whether you have already told somebody;
  • whether you think you might have made a mistake.

Keep telling a trusted adult until someone helps you.
