Remote Learning at Easton Primary School

Introduction

At Easton Primary School, we are committed to providing our pupils with continuous access to high-quality education, even during unforeseen school closures. Our remote learning programme ensures that pupils can continue their academic journey, maintaining engagement and connection with their teachers and peers.

Our Approach to Remote Learning

In the event of school closures, we implement a robust remote learning strategy that aligns with our school’s vision and values: Creative, Resilient, Kind, Adaptable, and Curious. Our approach includes:

  • Structured Learning: We provide a clear timetable for remote learning, ensuring that pupils engage with a balanced curriculum that includes core subjects such as Maths, English, and Science, as well as Humanities and the Arts.
  • Learning Packs: In the event of a school closure, we aim to send learning packs home via email by 10 AM on the day of the closure. These packs will include resources and activities to support pupils' learning at home.
  • Interactive Lessons: Teachers may provide live lessons or recorded lessons in the event of longer closures, encouraging interaction and participation. Pupils can ask questions, collaborate with peers, and receive immediate feedback.
  • Staff Availability: Staff will be available via email throughout the day to provide any additional support required. Completed work should either be emailed back to the school or brought back when the school reopens, depending on the instructions provided in the email.
  • Accessible Resources: All learning materials, including recorded lessons, worksheets, and additional resources, are made available through our online learning platform. Pupils can present their work either using the worksheets provided or in any other format to ensure all pupils can access learning. This ensures that pupils can access their learning at their convenience.

Supporting Our Pupils

To enhance the remote learning experience during school closures, we focus on:

  • Communication: Our teachers will regularly check their emails to ensure they can respond to any queries or support requests. This will ensure a sense of community and togetherness.
  • Parental Involvement: We encourage parents to engage in their child's learning by providing resources and tips on how to support their education at home. Our communication channels are open for parents to ask questions and share feedback.
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND): We are committed to ensuring that all pupils, including those with SEND, receive the support they need. Our SENDCo works closely with families to tailor learning experiences that meet individual needs.

Remote Education for Absentees

If a pupil is unable to attend school due to health reasons or other circumstances, in exceptional circumstances we will work with families to provide appropriate remote education. This ensures that pupils can continue to engage with their learning and receive the support they need, even when they are not physically present in school. This will be short term and the aim will always be for pupils to return to full-time education in school. If absence will be for a longer period - over 15 days - then EOTAS (Education other than at School) will be contacted. More information about this can be found here - Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS) - Suffolk SEND Local Offer

Expectations for Pupils

To make the most of remote learning during school closures, we expect pupils to:

  • Attend all scheduled lessons and participate actively.
  • Complete assignments and submit them on time.
  • Communicate with teachers if they are facing challenges or need additional support.

At Easton Primary School, we are dedicated to providing a seamless learning experience, regardless of the circumstances. Our remote learning programme is designed to foster resilience and adaptability in our pupils, preparing them for future challenges. Together, we can ensure that every pupil continues to learn and grow, even when faced with unforeseen school closures.

For more information about our remote learning policies or to discuss any concerns, please contact the class teacher or Cat Rivera.
