What do we want Science to look like at our school?

Science is an exploratory subject which should foster enthusiasm and a passion for learning. Science is, by nature, an investigative subject, which we aim to encourage and develop across all age ranges. We aim to develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. We believe it is important to develop an understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries, which will help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them. We want our children to be equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future. Our children will have the opportunity to do this through ‘hands on’ investigations and will be encouraged to ask questions that in turn will develop their understanding of scientific phenomena and how to investigate these.
