Easton Governors

Easton Primary School is part of the Avocet Multi-Academy Trust alongside Leiston, Wickham Market and Aldeburgh Primary Schools.

The Academy is overseen by a board of Trustees and each school has its own Local Governing Body (LGB). The role of the Trust is to ensure that:

The schools operate within the law

The schools allocate funds according to the agreement with the DfE and that all funds are used to ensure economy, efficiency and effectiveness.

To hold LGBs to account for the performance and safe running of their school and their ability to hold school leaders to account providing challenge and support to ensure continuous improvement.

The Local Governing Body carry out the three core strategic functions:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
  • Holding the Principals to account for the educational performance of the school and it's pupils and the performance management of staff.
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

Position and Responsibilities: Trustee, Chair of Governor at Easton, Governor responsible for Health and Safety

Brief Biography: Jonathan lives in the village of Easton on his farm with his wife Mary. He is CEO of a Commodity Trading & Brokerage company which trades worldwide, and a director of a Property Management company. 

Position and Responsibilities:

Brief Biography: Graham has lived in the area since 1994, and
is currently the Priest in Charge of seven parishes, which include
the village of Easton. He is passionate about young people

Magen Box  Frances Gander
Position and Responsibilities: Head of School and Staff Governor 

 

Brief Biography: Magen became Head of School in September 2017 having taught in the school for 4 years prior to that. Magen teaches for part of the week and is passionate about ensuring that the children at Easton get the best possible start to their education.

Position and Responsibilities:

Brief Biography: I moved to Easton in 2017. I have Post Graduate 
Diplomas in Special Educational Needs, in Vocation and Careers
Education, as well as in Family and Local History. My background is
in Education. I trained as a secondary  teacher and moved to special 
education where I was a teacher and a deputy head of an all age
special school. After 20 years I became an OFSTED inspector and
spent 16 years leading inspections. My expertise was used by the
local authority to provide support to governors in schools that were
in special measures. My voluntary work in the field of education has
included Parental Partnership, and the Education Admission Appeals
Panels for Suffolk.

Jo Dedicoat Alistair Smith

Position and Responsibilities: Parent Governor

Brief Biography: Jo has been in education outside of Avocet Trust for many years and brings expertise in all areas of teaching, learning and school leadership to the governing body.

Brief Biography: Alistair and his family joined the school in 2017.
With a wealth of experience in business and IT he is able to offer his
expertise to the governing body.

Position and Responsibilities:  Staff Governor 

 

Brief Biography: Samantha joined the Trust in 2017 as a teaching assistant.
She is involved in many elements of the school day and school life and works
across two age ranges in the school. 

 

 

 

 

 

Position and Responsibilities:

Brief Biography: Tom Caston is Deputy Head Pastoral at Framlingham
College, joining in 2015 from Ardingly College, where he was on the
Senior Team as Head of Staff Development, while also running a
boarding house.
Tom has worked at a variety of schools, in a variety of roles: Head of Lower School, Day Housemaster, Head of Geography and coached 1st Team Cricket and Rugby, as well as Hockey and Football. Prior to teaching, Tom
worked in the City as an investment banker.

Tom lives in Easton
