Rowan Class

Welcome to Rowan Class - Year 2 & 3

Hello from Miss Parish & Mrs Kinnair

  In Rowan...

Monday to Wednesday Miss Parish teaches in Rowan and Thursday & Friday the class have Mrs Kinnair.

Miss Buckmaster and Mrs O'Connell are our class teaching assistants. Mr Moore teaches PE on Monday afternoons, Yoga Jo delivers yoga on a Wednesday and Mrs Freestone takes both year groups for recorders on a Wednesday afternoon.

Due to the lockdown we are having a big focus on maths, literacy and reading but we will catch up with our topic learning through literacy too.

Seesaw is our online learning platform where we send all of our learning to the children during the lockdown period and they can send it back and communicate directly with us. We love seeing all the learning going on at home! Below is the link to where each child is given an individual login to access...

Spring Term Learning overview for Rowan Class

Spellings

You will receive the list of statutory spellings for your year group. These are for you to learn throughout the course of the year. We will learn spelling patterns each week in class through our spelling lessons and any spellings that you need to practise some more will be posted on the website each week! See the statutory spelling lists for each year group at the bottom of the page if you would like to do any additional spelling with your child/ren.

Times Tables

In Rowan Class we use Times Tables Rockstars to practise our times tables. Each half term we will test your times tables knowledge and TT Rockstars will work out which ones you need to practise next! You can practise as much as you like at home on this - your login is on your journal - but you have to do at least 20 minutes a week at home on it!

Reading

You will have a colour-banded reading book.  At school, an adult will hear you read this book at least once a week and will record this in your journal.  At the moment, books will only be sent home on a Friday so that you can read over the weekend and they must be returned on a Monday.  This means that we can quarantine the books for 72 hours, ready to send them home again the following Friday. You should read each day over the weekend.

We have set reading books for our class on Rising stars:

Journals - due to Covid-19 you cannot take these home at the moment.

The Nutcracker! A Christmas Film by Rowan Class

All of the children of Rowan Class have worked incredibly well to learn lines for their Christmas Film the Nutcracker. Unfortunately there were some technical difficulties with the audio of this video - this is our first try so we know that you will be able to overlook this and enjoy the film regardless, the children have put so much effort into this!

We hope that you will be able to enjoy the film at home this year - Merry Christmas from Mrs Parish, Mrs Kinnair and the Rowan Class Team!
