School parliament is an opportunity for the children to have their say on what happens in their school. The staff will ask the children directly on their ideas and opinions which help to influence changes which are important to the children. The children, in all year groups, will participate in focused discussions lead by the school Team Leaders. The team leaders will share the minutes of their parliament with the Head of School who will organise action to take place.
It is the responsibility of the team leaders to report back on decisions made and to follow them up! through the process the children learn to share and to listen to people's opinions and that there needs to be general agreement on ideas for them to come to fruition. There is also the space for ideas to fail to get off the ground and the children explore the reasons for this.
